To do list
Emma, you must complete the following tasks:
- Change the background of your blog - it is difficult to read
- storyboard, outlining what your finished product will look like
- shot list detailing shot type, duration of shot etc
- images of actors, with explanation of WHY they are appropriate
- images of locations you are using, with explanation of WHY they are appropriate
- analysis of similar genre openings, with evaluation of what is effective, what you may use, how you would do it differently
- time management posts - how are you spending your time?
- mind map of possible genres and the conventions of each (you can use the Joe Queenan articles to help you)
All of this MUST be completed urgently.

crime cliches
scorce Joe Queenan for the guardian.co.uk.
In gangster movies, there is an amorphous code of behaviour, be it omerta or honour among thieves or lets keep it in the family. even though the code is vaguely defined, it cannot be violated. It is the deviation from the code of omerta that usually sets in motion a gangster's ruin. that and the insidious influence or the rat.
Crime movies almost always have a rat, and sometimes several. the rat can be an undercover cop, a member of the gang, or even the gang leader himself.

Action movie cliches
source the guardian. written by Joe Queenan.
The classic action film features a small group of world-weary assassins or green berets or navy seals or mercenaries who assemble to pull off one last suicidal mission, after which they will retire.
towards the end of the film, one of the men who stayed behind will materialise out of thin air to bail out his buddies. this man will most assuredly die.
The villains are either heavily accented Russians, Serbs, or unidentified, all-purpose eastern European sociophaths, or sigar-smoking thugs from south of the border, or untrustworthy Arabs, or or villainous bureaucrats from Washington or London.
The women in action films tend to be promiscuouce femmes fetales or crusading journalists or medical support staff or hapless rebels or victims or miscast.

IT (1990 film)
It (also referred to as Stephen King's It) is a 1990 horror television miniseries based on the novel of the same name. The story revolves around an inter-dimensional predatory life-form that is simply referred to as "It", which has the ability to transform itself into its prey's worst fears, which allows it to exploit the fears and phobias of its victims while also disguising itself when hunting. The main protagonists are "The Losers Club", or "The Seven", a group of social outcasts who discover "It" and vow to destroy him by any means necessary. The series takes place over two different time periods, the first when the Losers first discover "It", and the second when they are called back to defeat "It", who has resurfaced. "It" mostly takes the form of a sadistic clown called "Pennywise the Dancing Clown", which it uses to lure children and kill them. It takes place in the fictional town of Derry, Maine, USA.
Horror film cliches
source Joe Queenan's guide to horror film cliches. the guardian.co.uk.
main points made in this article;
They can divide into severla very different categories: slasher, zombie, vampire, mainstream horror, Asianhorror and revolting Eli Roth films.
Indeed, horror is one genre in which the absence would ruin everything.
Small children are often evil in horror movies, a tradition that descends from The Bad Seed and The Exorcist and The Omen. When they are not evil, they are troubbled loners who consort with invisible playmates who are evil. If one hears childeren humming innocent nursery rhymes in the background, you can bet your bottom dollar that somebodys getting a carving knife through the retina pretty damn soon.
Horror films work best in rural settings, because ruralics are scary in and of themselves, ans because there are lots of frightening farm tools at hand, and also because there are no neighbours to beg of help.
